Abide Embroidery exists to help Christian women slow down and meditate on God’s Word through the art of embroidery.
How Abide Began
Hi! I’m Sarah — founder, maker, inventory taker, and everything-in-between for Abide Embroidery Co.
I’ve been embroidering since 2014, but it wasn’t until 2020 that I saw a need for more Christ-centered art that you could make with your own hands and hang in your home. Abide Embroidery was born shortly thereafter in 2021. I first started creating finished designs, but quickly realized that wasn’t sustainable. This then led to creating digital guides for customers to create their own designs. And then soon thereafter I began creating complete kits with supplies and instructions.
Since then, we’ve helped thousands of women stitch God’s Word and use that time to meditate, pray, and worship the Lord through embroidery. It’s a privilege to walk each new (and experienced!) stitcher through new designs and help point them to Christ.
Why “Abide”
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.”— John 15:4
The name is the whole point. Every design starts with a verse worth dwelling on, so the hours you spend with needle and thread are hours spent with His Word.
The heart and mission of Abide hasn’t changed since the beginning. Our desire isn’t to merely create cute designs but to truly use embroidery to help women slow down and be like Mary who chose the “good portion” of dwelling at Christ’s feet (Luke 10:42). Embroidery is just one tool to help do that as we ponder and pray God’s Word through embroidery.
How Every Kit Is Made
Everything is done from our home in Augusta, Georgia. We have a small team of contractors who make this possible. We source high-quality materials from around the world, but everything is assembled with care and attention by our team in the U.S.A.
The Community
What began as one hoop has grown into a community of thousands of stitchers — gathering for stitch-alongs every Advent, Easter, and summer, sharing finished hoops in our Facebook group, and encouraging one another along the way. More than 2,000 reviews later, the sweetest part is still the same: hearing that a verse someone stitched stayed with them and encouraged them in their walk with the Lord.
What We Believe
Abide is unapologetically Christian of the broadly Reformed perspective. If you’d like to know exactly where we stand, we’ve written it out plainly in our Statement of Faith, which is from The Gospel Coalition’s Confessional Statement.
