Psalm 118:1 — “Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!” Psalm 118 was part of the Hallel, the songs traditionally sung at Passover — likely the very hymn Jesus and his disciples sang on the night before the cross (Matthew 26:30). He gave thanks for God’s steadfast, covenant love before the battle was won. To stitch “His steadfast love endures forever” is to hold that same truth close: God’s love does not fail, even when the outcome is still unseen.
