“Would you like the rest of the bolt for 20% off?”
Excuse me—what? It’s like music to my ears to hear this beloved phrase from the cutting counter. But have you ever noticed the last bit of fabric on that bolt is a bit..wonky? Filled with deep creases and uneven edges, it’s not the most glamorous part of the fabric bolt and so often I tell the cutting counter “no thank you.”
But recently I learned something that’s going to make my response to this question be a quick “yes!”
Let’s go back to why we don't want the last bit of the bolt. It’s those deep creases that feel like they’ve set up camp forever. Let’s be honest, nobody wants to do another load of laundry just for a craft project. I’ve been there—standing over the laundry basket, fabric in hand, thinking, “Is this really worth it?”
But! I’ve found an easy fix. Instead of dragging out the detergent and wasting precious time, grab a simple spray bottle and an iron.
First, lightly mist the fabric with water.
Next, give it a good wrinkle (yes, you read that right),
Finally, hit it with a hot iron. The heat and steam will smooth out even those stubborn, deep creases, and it’ll be good as new—no laundry required!
Now when I hear that magical “Would you like the rest of the bolt for 20% off?” I’m ready to snatch it up without hesitation.
